Interview with Katarzyna Chmura – Client Service Representative

Katarzyna Chmura has been with Sescom almost from the very beginning, joining in 2008. Over the years, she has witnessed the company’s growth firsthand while expanding her own responsibilities. Today, as a Client Service Representative, she successfully supports 50 clients in their daily operations. What she values most in her work is the variety of tasks.

You’re one of the longest-serving employees. When and how did your collaboration with Sescom begin?

My journey with Sescom started in 2008 when I decided to move permanently to the Tricity area.

Do you remember what attracted you to Sescom?

I was convinced by a college friend who was working here as an IT manager at the time. He spoke very positively about the company’s development plans and the changes that were coming.

What was the company like back then?

There were only about a dozen of us, and we all shared one office. We had just one major client, and new contracts were only beginning to be signed. The differences between then and now are almost indescribable.

How has your scope of responsibilities changed over the years?

I started in a role related to Platform administration, settlements, reporting, and invoicing—everything was done in Excel! Close collaboration with the IT department allowed us to introduce modifications and improvements to the Platform, which looks completely different today. I was also responsible for training all new Platform users—employees, service technicians, and clients. That’s when I realized clients were coming to me with other operational issues as well. When a position as a Contract Manager opened up, I decided to apply. In the meantime, I was also involved in implementing ISO as the Management Representative for the Integrated Management System.

What do you currently do as a Client Service Representative?

I’ve been a Client Service Representative for a year now, though it doesn’t differ much from my previous role. The scope of tasks is very similar, but the scale has changed—I now support around 50 clients.

What skills are needed for your position?

Stress resistance, patience, assertiveness, and strong communication skills.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The variety of tasks—you never know what new idea a client might surprise you with. 😊

What did you do before working at Sescom?

I joined Sescom right after graduating. Before that, I worked various part-time jobs in retail, as a court bailiff’s assistant, and as a summer camp counselor.

What are your biggest successes or the project you’re most proud of?

Every satisfied client is a reason to be proud. We live in a time when it’s much easier to point out mistakes than to give praise, so I truly appreciate every positive comment from a client. It gives me a lot of motivation to keep going.

How was the past year for you, and what are you looking forward to in the new one?

This year was particularly challenging due to the changes that were introduced, but I’m entering the New Year with renewed energy and can’t wait to see what it brings!

What do you like to do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

I really enjoy all kinds of sports. Recently, I started boxing, and six months ago, I began playing squash. Long walks with my family are also a great way to spend free time, and now it’s even more fun—we’ve added a four-month-old puppy to the mix. When the weather isn’t great, we love playing board games.
